TRG Capital Management Inc. (TRG), founded in 2008 by Thomas Gasper, is a research- driven investment advisory firm headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, with an additional office in Johnson City, New York. TRG is a North Carolina state registered Investment Advisor and has exceeded the de minimis number of clients in the states of North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, South Carolina, and Texas. Should TRG surpass the de minimis number of clients or establish an office in other State jurisdictions, TRG may be required to register in those states.
The firm specializes in portfolio development using individual stocks, fixed income securities, ETFs, and CEFs. In addition, we may also provide advice on alternative investments. TRG’s advisory services include both discretionary and non-discretionary portfolio management services as well as portfolio management for privately offered funds. TRG does not prepare or offer tax advice, only suggestions that an investor may wish to consider and consult with their tax preparer prior to making any decisions.

Thomas R. Gasper, CPA®
Founder, President and Chief Investment Officer
Tom has been the visionary thought-leader behind TRG Capital Management since its creation in 2008. For more than 30 years in the financial advisory field, Tom has been attracting smart and astute clients from around the United States. Caring and insightful with a deep understanding of the markets, Tom is truly a breakthrough investment thinker. Developing strategies for TRG’s clients, Tom’s theories and proprietary methodology are based on his long- time research of market history and focus on risk reduction and providing long-term sustainable investment income. Prior to his current role he was the Chief Investment Officer at Columbia Ridge Capital Management, Inc. Tom has held other roles such as Managing Partner/Co-Chief Investment Officer at both Geneva Roth of New England and KG of New England.
Tom received an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Wilkes University in 1988 after completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Wilkes University in 1987. Tom has completed the FINRA Series 65. Tom has spent many years on the board of directors for multiple charitable organizations. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in New York and North Carolina.
George J. Gerner, Jr.
Investment Advisor Rerpesentative
George, a long-time TRG client, became a key member of the team after retiring from a successful business career, serving as Director of Marketing and Investor Relations for the firm. His strong communication skills and professional background make him highly effective at conveying TRG’s value to prospective clients. George was instrumental in developing TRG’s website and marketing materials. George now works with clients along the eastern seaboard, from Florida to New York.
He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Binghamton University and previously worked as a Program Manager at IBM and Lockheed Martin.
Matt Horwedel
Investment Advisor Representative
Matt serves as a Junior Trader and Portfolio Analyst at TRG, where he monitors market trends and real-time data to support portfolio manager Tom Gasper. His responsibilities include managing trade orders, tracking risk metrics, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting in portfolio analysis to refine trading strategies.
Matt earned a B.S. in Financial Investments from Wilkes University and has passed the Series 65 exam. While in college, he balanced academics with being a four-year soccer player and also coached a local youth soccer team.
Sarah Gasper
Operations Assistant
Sarah’s primary responsibilities at TRG include researching financial data, operational support and other projects as needed to ensure a consistent client experience.
Sarah received a Bachelor’s degree in Business in Management from Southern Utah University. While completing her undergraduate work, she played collegiate volleyball; and broke the school record for most digs in a single match. Outside of working at TRG, Sarah enjoys hiking, baking, traveling, pickleball and playing sand volleyball.
